Region One partners with college to showcase healthcare professionals – San Benito News

South Texas College (STC) has partnered, for the second year, with the Region One Education Service Center (ESC) as the host of the organization’s PATHS Project Pathfinder Academy. The company includes a campus in San Benito.

The academy, housed in the college’s nursing and paramedic building, brought together teachers, counselors and administrators from 10 Rio Grande Valley school districts of Harlingen, Hidalgo, La Joya, La Sara, Lyford, Pharr , San Juan and Alamo, Roma, Valley View, Vanguard and South Texas Independent School District, which has a campus in San Benito.

Pathfinder Academy pathways align with the health sciences and educate those who work closely with students interested in pursuing one of the twelve health-related degrees offered at the college.

Karen Castillo, project manager for STC’s Division of Nursing and Allied Health, said working with Region 1 is always an exciting opportunity to allow educators to see what the college has to offer.

“It is a pleasure to welcome the PATHS Academy for the second time,” said Castillo. “It allows us to present our programs, the technology we use for training and to inform about the requirements of our programs. Even better, participants can speak one-on-one with our program managers and report back to their students with information that helps them make decisions about their future. »
