Lee Health Facilities Score High Ratings Among ‘America’s Top Hospitals’ | News, Sports, Jobs

All of Lee Health’s adult acute care hospitals have been named among “America’s Best Hospitals” for 2022, a distinction that places them in the top 2 and 5 percent of hospitals in the country, according to Healthgrades, a leading online resource for information on doctors and hospitals.

This designation recognizes hospitals that consistently provide quality, comprehensive care in all clinical areas.

This is the fourth consecutive year that all Lee Health hospitals have been recognized among “America’s Best Hospitals” by Healthgrades. It is also the first time that three Lee Health hospitals have been listed among the nation’s top 100 hospitals.

“It is a credit to the compassionate staff and leadership team at Lee Health that all four adult hospitals are consistently recognized among the best in the nation,” said Dr. Larry Antonucci, President and CEO of Lee Health. “In the face of a global pandemic, we have remained focused on providing the best possible healthcare to Southwest Florida. I would like to thank our frontline team members for the extraordinary care they provide and the lasting contribution they make to the health of the community by achieving excellent outcomes.

For the second year in a row, Cape Coral Hospital earned a coveted top 100 spot, placing it in the top 2% of hospitals nationwide. Lee Memorial Hospital and HealthPark Medical Center are also recognized as top 100 hospitals. Gulf Coast Medical Center was also recognized, retaining its designation among the top 250 hospitals and placing it in the top 5%. Key distinctions mean patients at Lee Health hospitals are less likely to experience medical or surgical complications and have the best chance of survival during and after hospitalization.

The list is based entirely on clinical grade results for 31 conditions and procedures. Healthgrades annually rates the hospital performance of more than 4,500 hospitals across the country based on Medicare inpatient data from the Centers for Medicare’s Medicare Provider Review and Analysis Database and Medicaid Services. No hospital can participate or withdraw, nor pay to be assessed.
