Erie Shores Health Foundation invests $1 million in local health organizations

The Erie Shores Health Foundation (ESHF) on Tuesday donated more than $1 million to two organizations that provide health services in Essex County as part of a special celebration of their 30 years as an organization. charitable.

The foundation presented checks to Erie Shores Healthcare and The Hospice of Windsor-Essex County.

“Words cannot begin to express how proud and grateful I am for the immense support from our community. Your love and generosity has been the lifeline of the Foundation and has enabled us to provide this support both at Erie Shores HealthCare and The Hospice, Erie Shores Campus,” said ESHF CEO Christine Colautti.

Erie Shores Healthcare, the local 58-bed inpatient hospital in Essex County, received $804,976.78. ESHF officials said the amount reflects community donations made to support the purchase of medical equipment and the renovation of vital facilities for patient care.

Here are some examples of investments made during the 2021-2022 fiscal year:

  • chemistry analyzer
  • Laryngoscope video
  • ECG cart
  • Emergency department safe
  • Gastroscopes
  • OB delivery trolleys
  • Physiological monitors

The Hospice of Windsor-Essex County Inc. has received $288,118.70 to help cover the operating costs of the Hospice Erie Shores campus from April 2021 to March 2022.

“On behalf of Hospice Windsor and Essex County, I would like to thank the Erie Shores Health Foundation for being partners in supporting our patients and their families,” said Hospice Executive Director Nancy Brockenshire.

Officials say Windsor Essex County Hospice and ESHF have reached an agreement to operate and fund the hospice, a 10-bed residence and drop-in center at the Erie Shores campus.

All programs are run by Hospice and the foundation raises funds for operating expenses that are not covered by government funding.

The ESHF says the local hospice has served nearly 1,000 people since its inception in 2016.
