Eastern Ontario Health Organizations Concerned About Rising COVID Counts
CORNWALL, Ontario – A letter signed by all hospitals and health units in Eastern Ontario raises concerns about rising COVID-19 numbers in the face of a sixth wave of the pandemic.
“The level of COVID-19 in the Champlain region is on the rise. The viral signal from COVID-19 sewage is increasing in the region and is reaching record levels in Ottawa. Additionally, the percentage of test positivity in the region is high and increasing, according to regional public health offices,” the joint statement read.
The healthcare professionals who signed the letter recommend the following to help individuals protect themselves and their loved ones:
- Get vaccinated with all the doses to which you are entitled.
- Limit your close contacts.
- Wear a mask in indoor public spaces.
- Stay home if you are sick.
