COVID-19 safety measures continue at hospitals and community health facilities in Saint Lucia


Granada: The Department of Health and Social Security has advised the general public to follow appropriate COVID-19 measures when visiting hospitals and community health facilities. The ministry recommended wearing a face mask, maintaining social or physical distancing and other health measures while on hospital premises.

The Ministry of Health made the announcement on April 21, 2022 (Thursday).

The ministry’s official notice said: “On April 21, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Social Security advises the public that despite the repeal of the COVID-19 Emergency Powers Regulations, anyone visiting hospitals general and subsidiary health centers, as well as health centers and medical posts, must comply with COVID-19 health and safety measures.

Health officials are reminding everyone involved that recommended measures include, but are not limited to, wearing masks, sanitizing hands, and observing physical distancing protocols,” he said. added.

Additionally, the ministry said it strongly believes the measures are necessary for the continued safety and protection of patients, staff and visitors.

He also urged the general public to understand and cooperate with the government in following security measures. The ministry further clarified that it has continuously made efforts to control, manage and prevent the spread of COVID-19 at all levels, including hospitals and community health service centers.

“The ministry therefore calls on all individuals to cooperate fully with safety measures as it continues its efforts to effectively manage, control and prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the hospital and community health service levels,” said- he pointed out.

The ministry also thanked members of the public for their understanding and cooperation.
